As far as swimming is concerned, schools can begin holding practices on Feb. 1, with competition starting on Feb. 16. The final day of the season will be March 27. The NJSIAA previously decided to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/no-state-championships-for-new-jersey-high-school-swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eliminate this year&#8217;s state championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The decision from the NJSIAA is related to rising COVID-19 cases in New Jersey and restrictions on indoor gatherings that have been put in place by Governor Phil Murphy. When the winter sports season begins in February, it is highly unlikely that spectators will be permitted at any of the events.<\/p>\n<div id=\"f01sdqX704Ajfs\" class=\"wrapper clearfix full pb-feature pb-layout-item pb-f-article-body\">\n<div id=\"article-body\" class=\"article-body collection collection-cards article__content article__content_lf\">\n<div class=\"card paragraph-spacing collection-item card-border-bottom card-border-bottom-thick card-border-bottom-dark\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\"card-content font-flag\">\n<p>\u201cWe remain keenly focused on providing New Jersey\u2019s student athletes with the opportunity to participate in sports, and given the current health data and modeling, we believe pushing the schedules back ensures the best opportunity for our kids,\u201d said Colleen Maguire, the Chief Operating Officer of the NJSIAA. \u201cAs was the case in the fall, the potential for play is ultimately based on everyone working together to keep our
