Becoming the first man to break the 50-second barrier in the event, Dressel touched the wall in 49.88 to easily wipe out the former record of 50.26, set by Russian <strong>Vladimir<\/strong> <strong>Morozov<\/strong> on two occasions.<\/p>\n<p>A product of the University of Florida, Dressel stepped onto the blocks for the 100 IM having already set an American record in the 100 freestyle, and he later added another American record in the 50 butterfly. Dressel had a commanding lead by the time he surfaced, a tribute to his powerful start, and continually built his lead over a field that was part of history. It can be argued that Dressel&#8217;s effort is the finest of the two seasons in which the ISL has been in action. Dressel&#8217;s record arrived a day after Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> took down the world record in the 100 breaststroke, and one day after the Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Kira Toussaint<\/strong>, swimming for the London Roar,\u00a0set a world record in the 50 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>The Condors easily won the meet and advanced to the weekend&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/isl.global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ISL<\/a> final, which will also feature Energy Standard, the London Roar and the L.A. Current. Dressel figures to be even more rested for the final, which means additional world-record pursuits. He already owns the short-course world record in the 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Dressel figures to be one of the headliners at next year&#8217;s Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he is expected to chase individual gold medals in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Dressel will also figure prominently into the United States&#8217; relays.<\/p>\n<p>Here is Dressel&#8217;s world-record performance in the 100 IM.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe
