This season, however, the Little Cyclones came back with vengeance to reclaim the championship crown with a final score of 303 points ahead of Iowa City West (277.5) and Dowling Catholic (233).<\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ighsau.org\/news\/2020-swimming-and-diving-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HERE<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for full results.<\/p>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Ames &#8211; 303<br \/>\n2. Iowa City West &#8211; 277.5<br \/>\n3. Dowling Catholic &#8211; 233<br \/>\n4. Waukee &#8211; 227<br \/>\n5. Johnston &#8211; 173<\/p>\n<p>The meet began in exciting fashion and proved to be the closest event of the championships. Johnston&#8217;s <strong>Abby Rastetter<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olivia Swalley<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brooklynn Kaster\u00a0<\/strong>(26.82), and\u00a0<strong>Izzy Osborne\u00a0<\/strong>(24.22) won the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in 1:46.74, only 0.03 ahead of runner-up Ames (1:46.77).<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after swimming on the winning medley relay, Swalley was back in the water to win the 200 IM in a final time of 2:03.28 ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kentucky-wildcats-earn-2021-verbals-from-annie-galvin-emma-hermeston-sydney-stricklin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">soon-to-be Kentucky Wildcat<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Annie Galvin\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.94) of Ames. Swalley then won the 100 breast after getting her hands to the wall in 1:04.12, while Galvin also finished second in the 100 back with a time of 55.35.<\/p>\n<p>A. Roghair<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>successfully defended her state title in the 200 free, finishing in 1:47.30 to just miss the state record of 1:47.14. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-adds-two-time-iowa-state-champion-aurora-roghair-to-class-of-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Stanford commit<\/a> then went on to win the 500 free for the second-straight year in 4:45.78. Her time broke the state record of 4:47.43 set by Waukee&#8217;s <strong>Jessi Wigham\u00a0<\/strong>during prelims. Wigham wound up second in 4:48.35.<\/p>\n<p>Ames&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Meghan Donald<\/strong>, who recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nc-state-wolfpack-add-another-2022-verbal-from-iowa-state-runner-up-meghan-donald\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verbally committed to NC State<\/a>, splashed-and-dashed her way to a win in the 50 free, clocking in at a swift 22.99 ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/six-time-iowa-state-championship-finalist-grace-frericks-verbally-commits-to-kentucky-for-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kentucky commit<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Grace Frericks\u00a0<\/strong>(23.56) of Cedar Falls. Donald then proved her sprint prowess by also grabbing gold in the 100 free, stopping the clock in 50.63.<\/p>\n<p>Martin defended her title in the 100 fly in state record-setting fashion. Her time of 53.01 lowered her own state record of 53.39 she set during prelims; she first broke the mark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/records-fall-at-iowa-state-championships-iowa-city-west-boys-dowling-catholic-girls-earn-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in 2019<\/a>. The junior, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-gators-get-another-verbal-for-2022-from-iowa-state-record-holder-scarlet-martin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sent her verbal pledge to Florida<\/a>, also broke the 100 back state record twice in one day: her final time of 54.14 eclipsed the mark of 54.17 she set in prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa City West&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ella Hochstetler\u00a0<\/strong>(24.85),\u00a0<strong>Jade Roghair\u00a0<\/strong>(24.06), Roghair (22.88), and Martin (22.55) won the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:34.34. On the boards, Bettendorf senior\u00a0<strong>Makayla Hughbanks<\/strong> dominated and grabbed gold with a final score of 505.70.<\/p>\n<p>The meet concluded with a bang as Iowa City West&#8217;s\u00a0J. Roghair (52.59),\u00a0<strong>Olivia Taeger\u00a0<\/strong>(52.83),\u00a0A. Roghair (49.22), and Martin (49.09) won the 4&#215;100 free relay in a combined time of 3:23.73.
