NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Northwestern University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season from U.S. Open qualifier Mackenzie Lanning\u00a0<\/strong>of Louisville, Ky.<\/p>\n

She will join Riley Huddleston<\/strong><\/a> of Columbus, Ohio, as a member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2026.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University! Big thank you to my friends, family, and coaches for all their support along the way! Can\u2019t wait to be a part of the Wildcat family! Go \u2018Cats!\u00a0\"?\"\"?\"“<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An extremely versatile swimmer, Lanning does her club swimming with Lakeside Swim Team and finaled in three events at the TYR Pro Swim Series – Des Moines in March. She also finished 19th in the 200 back at Juniors East last December.<\/p>\n

In Summer 2019, she was a six-time finalist at Greensboro Sectionals before going on to win the 1500m free at the Kentucky 13&O LCM Championships. Lanning also raced three events at Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n
