He held off <strong>Jay Litherland<\/strong>, who finished in 2:01.98, and <strong>Sam Hoover<\/strong> (2:01.65).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> made a strong start to his US Open meet. Swimming for Gator Swim Club, Lochte won the 200 IM in 2:01.05 to hold off the field in Sarasota by more than a second.<\/p>\n<p>It was more than three seconds off of his best time, but a strong swim in his first race in nearly a year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Norbert Szabo<\/strong> took second in 2:02.86, ahead of Florida&#8217;s <strong>Kevin Vargas<\/strong> (2:04.20).<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond,<strong> Arsenio Bustos<\/strong> won in 2:02.4, ahead of<strong> Landon Gentry<\/strong> (2:03.94).<\/p>\n<p>In Indy, <strong>Raunak Khosla<\/strong> touched first in 2:03.19 ahead of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics&#8217; <strong>Kyle Maas<\/strong> (2:03.24).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 400 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Sarasota site of the US Open, Florida&#8217;s<strong> Kieran Smith<\/strong> bettered the field by more than two seconds to win the 400 free. He finished in 3:48.78, about a second off of his best time.<\/p>\n<p>Florida teammates <strong>Robert Freeman<\/strong> (3:51.10), <strong>Alfonso Mestre<\/strong> (3:51.93) and <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> (3:53.30) followed.<\/p>\n<p>In Indy, <strong>Marwan El Kamash<\/strong> followed up his 800 win with a 400 free win in 3:48.87 to hold off <strong>Kevin Callan<\/strong> (3:49.34) and <strong>Jake Mitchell<\/strong> (3:52.98).<\/p>\n<p>In Greensboro, <strong>Ross Dant<\/strong> won the 400 free in 3:55.87 to finish ahead of teammate <strong>Eric Knowles<\/strong> (3:56.19).<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Matthew Fenlon<\/strong> won in 3:56.34, holding off <strong>Connor Hunt<\/strong> (3:56.46).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 50 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Greensboro&#8217;s US Open stop, <strong>Yusuke Legard<\/strong> took the top spot in 22.49. <strong>Nathaniel Lile<\/strong> was second (22.67), followed by <strong>Aaron<\/strong> <strong>Greenberg<\/strong> (22.77) and <strong>Dean Farris<\/strong> (22.88). <strong>Joseph Schooling<\/strong> was ninth (23.57).<\/p>\n<p>Gator Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Enzo Martinez Scarpe<\/strong> touched first in the 50 free in Sarasota 2020 US Open stop, finishing in 22.62.<\/p>\n<p>Florida&#8217;s <strong>Jan Friese<\/strong> was second in 22.89, followed by NYAC&#8217;s <strong>Brett Fraser<\/strong> (23.27).<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Alberto Mestre<\/strong> touched first in 22.63, followed by <strong>Colin Wright<\/strong> (22.77) and <strong>Christopher Guillano<\/strong> (22.93).<\/p>\n<p>In Indy&#8217;s US Open stop, Cardinal&#8217;s <strong>Andrej Barna<\/strong> was first in 22.76, followed by <strong>Quintin McCarty<\/strong> (22.86) and <strong>Connor Boyle<\/strong> (22.94).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 US Open Championships continued on Friday in a virtual meet format with nine sites across the country.
