Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> clocked in at 51.26 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle<\/a> at ISL Match 10 on Tuesday, taking the American record<\/a> in the event.<\/p>\n

It erases, by a huge margin, the standing record of 51.63 set by Mallory Comerford,<\/strong> dating to the 2018 Short-Course Worlds in Hangzhou, China. Weitzeil went out in 24.43, the fastest in the field, and came back in 26.83, only the third-fastest of the heat.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Weitzeil laid claim to the American record in the 50 free<\/a> in 23.45.<\/p>\n

Weitzeil finished second in the event, falling behind LA Current teammate Beryl Gastaldello.<\/strong> The Frenchwoman clocked in at 51.16 seconds, undercutting her own national record. She entered the season holding the mark at 51.45, then went 51.30 in ISL Match 5.<\/p>\n

Gastaldello\u2019s 100 free time is the second-fastest in ISL this season, trailing only the 51.14 put down by Siobhan Haughey.<\/strong> Weitzeil is up to fourth, behind Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> at 51.17.<\/p>\n

Later, Gastaldello added a French record in the 100 individual medley, her time 57.43. It\u2019s also an ISL record, usurping the 57.74 of Sjostrom this year, the first that the event has been contested in ISL.<\/p>\n
