NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>It may be Halloween, but there\u2019s nothing scary about this news for Notre Dame: they have just received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Michael Flynn <\/strong>of Brookfield, Ill.<\/p>\n

He will join\u00a0Dillon Edge<\/strong><\/a>, Jack Anderson<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Tate Bacon<\/b><\/a>\u00a0as a member of the Fighting Irish\u2019s Class of 2026.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am extremely humbled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame. I would like to thank all my coaches, teammates, friends, and family who have helped me get to where I am today. Go Irish \u2618\ufe0f”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Primarily a freestyler, Flynn trains year-round with Lyons Swim Club and owns several Junior National standards. He most recently was the runner-up in the mile at Illinois Seniors after earning a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open in December.<\/p>\n

In Summer 2019, he recorded five top-10 finishes at Illinois LCM Seniors which included a silver-medal winning performance in the 1500m free. Flynn then went on to earn 100% best times at Des Moines Futures where he placed fifth in the 400m free, sixth in the 1500m free, and 11th in both the 200m and 1500m free.<\/p>\n

  • 200 free – 1:38.96<\/li>\n
  • 500 free – 4:28.07<\/li>\n
  • 1000 free – 9:31.91<\/li>\n
  • 1650 free – 15:42.73<\/li>\n
  • 200 IM – 1:53.37<\/li>\n
  • 400 IM – 3:57.66<\/li>\n
  • 100 breast – 57.04<\/li>\n
  • 200 breast – 2:08.75<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Currently a junior at Fenwick High School, Flynn is already a four-time individual Illinois State Championship finalist. He placed third in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free as a sophomore while taking 11th in both of those events during his freshman season.<\/p>\n

    Under head coach\u00a0Michael Litzinger<\/b>, the Fighting Irish finished sixth at the 2020 ACC Championships.<\/p>\n
