NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>It may be Halloween, but there’s nothing scary about this news for NC State: they have just received a new verbal commitment for their Class of 2026 from Stephen Conrad\u00a0<\/strong>of Mobile, Ala.<\/p>\n

He will join\u00a0JT Ewing<\/strong><\/a>, Kyle Ponsler<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Michael Cotter<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Lance Norris<\/strong><\/a>, and\u00a0Ryan Weaver<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Raleigh in the fall of 2022, suiting up for an NC State team that won their sixth-straight ACC Championship title in 2020.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m super excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at North Carolina State University! I\u2019d like to thank my family, friends, and all of the coaches who have helped me along the way. This is only the beginning… #PBG?\u2666\ufe0f”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A talented backstroker, Conrad does his club swimming with City of Mobile Swim Association and owns the U.S. Open cuts in both the 100\/200 back. He placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 back at Cary Sectionals in March after finishing second and third, respectively, in those events at the Southeastern Swimming Championships in February.<\/p>\n

In Summer 2019, he raced to fourth place in the 400m IM as well as fifth in both the 100m and 200m back at the Southeastern LCM Championships. Conrad then went on to earn 100% best times at Greensboro Futures where he placed fourth in the 200m back and sixth in the 100m back.<\/p>\n
