NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Virginia Tech has kept another local standout in-state – and away from ACC rival UVa – for the Class of 2025 after receiving a verbal commitment from Bristow, Va. native Landon Gentry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He will arrive in Blacksburg at the start of the 2022-23 season along with\u00a0Aiken Do<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and Mitchell<\/strong>\u00a0Stroud<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gentry currently owns the fastest 200 fly time in his class.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

Gentry trains year-round with Nation\u2019s Capital Swim Club and is no stranger to breaking records. He’s part of the National Age Group records for all 13-14 mixed relays, the 15-16 mixed 4×100 free relay, and the 15-18 mixed 4×50 free relay, mixed 4×100 free relay, and the mixed 4×100 medley relay.<\/p>\n

He also owns the Potomac Valley LSC records in the 13-14 100m fly, 200m fly, 200m IM, and 400m IM in addition to several relays. Gentry is the owner of the NCAP program records for the 13-14 age group in those four events as well as the 100m fly.<\/p>\n

At the NCAP Invitational in December, he won the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM after notching a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open. In summer 2019, he recorded three top-8 finishes at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to take fourth in the 200m fly and ninth in the 100m fly at NCSAs.<\/p>\n
