id=\"post-body-7332269379674282334\" class=\"post-body entry-content\">\n<p>The time has come to dive into the precast concrete fabrication process for the Hall of Fame Aquatic Center&#8217;s 27 Meter High Tower.<\/p>\n<p>A few pictures from the field trip to Gate Precast in Kissimmee on October 16, 2020.\u00a0 \u00a0The Fort Lauderdale team was there to select the color and textures for the dive tower and review the construction plans.<\/p>\n<p>The Kissimmee plant manager stated that the dive tower is a very complex structure with a high degree of difficulty.\u00a0 Fort Lauderdale definitely gets the gold medal for most challenging design!\u00a0 \u00a0Gate Precast has considerable experience with air traffic control towers with Fort Lauderdale\u2019s dive tower becoming the newest cousin in this family.<\/p>\n<p>Gate\u2019s headquarters are in Jacksonville and they have eight plants across the southeast United States.\u00a0 It was an impressive operation and yard, all carpentry forms and iron work is constructed in house.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturing of the panels will begin this fall, followed by delivery in January 2021.\u00a0 The dive tower will be erected in February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>As a unique and one of a kind structure, the dive tower construction process will be featured in a video documentary.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\"><a Observation Deck on July 7th.\u00a0 It will be the first and only high diving tower in the USA and is expected to attract elite divers from around the world. \u00a0It will be the second such tower with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/video-worlds-first-permanent-high-diving-stadium-opens-in-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first one erected in China<\/a>.\u00a0 The high diving tower in Fort Lauderdale will be <strong>the only one of its kind<\/strong> with multiple platforms and additional features.\u00a0 Special thanks to <strong>Mayor Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved\u00a0funding to support\u00a0the addition of a north observation deck and 27-meter dive tower\u00a0as part of the ongoing improvements at the\u00a0Aquatic Center\u00a0at a total cost of\u00a0$7,870,261.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fort-lauderdale-unveils-iconic-high-diving-tower-as-possible-addition-to-hall-of-fame-aquatic-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 27-meter high diving tower<\/a> will be constructed using precast concrete sections and includes decorative glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) cladding and decorative lighting.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0$5,101,060\u00a0cost\u00a0will\u00a0be paid for with CRA funds. The\u00a0north\u00a0observation\u00a0deck\u00a0adds approximately 2,800 square feet of amenity space and includes new elevator and stair tower access, architectural GFRC cladding on the building, and decorative railings and lighting.\u00a0The $2,769,201\u00a0cost\u00a0will\u00a0be paid for with park impact fees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Overall construction of the
