﻿{"id":450605,"date":"2020-10-24T12:47:04","date_gmt":"2020-10-24T19:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=450605"},"modified":"2020-10-24T12:47:04","modified_gmt":"2020-10-24T19:47:04","slug":"hokies-keep-virginia-6a-champion-aiken-do-in-state-for-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hokies-keep-virginia-6a-champion-aiken-do-in-state-for-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Hokies Keep Virginia 6A Champion Aiken Do In State for 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Virginia Tech has scored a big in-state verbal commitment for their Class of 2026 from <strong>Aiken Do\u00a0<\/strong>of Fairfax, Va. who will arrive in Blacksburg at the start of the 2022-23 season along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-open-qualifier-mitchell-stroud-of-tac-titans-verbally-commits-to-virginia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mitchell<\/strong> <strong>Stroud<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #a11616;\"><strong>&#8220;Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Virginia Tech! Thanks to my family, coaches, friends, and everyone who helped me get here! Go hokies!<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/13.0.0\/svg\/1f983.svg\" alt=\"?\" \/>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A U.S. Open qualifier, Do does his club swimming with The Fish and last competed at Potomac Valley Seniors in March where he collected three gold medals. He raced three events at the Toyota U.S. Open in December and posted five top-4 finishes at Buffalo Sectionals in March 2019.<\/p>\n<p>In summer 2019, Do notched four best times at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to place eighth in the 100m free and ninth in the 100m breast at Geneva Futures.<\/p>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free \u2013 20.56<\/li>\n<li>100 free \u2013 44.83<\/li>\n<li>200 free \u2013 1:41.38<\/li>\n<li>100 breast \u2013 55.32<\/li>\n<li>200 breast \u2013 2:00.81<\/li>\n<li>100 fly \u2013 50.06<\/li>\n<li>200 IM \u2013 1:50.87<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at W.T. Woodson, Do is already a four-time individual Virginia 6A State Championship finalist. He won the 100 free and was the runner-up in the 50 free as a sophomore while taking sixth in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 breast during his freshman season. He also anchored his team&#8217;s 4&#215;50 and 4&#215;100 free relays that finished second in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>When he suits up for the Hokies in the fall of 2022, Do will add his talents to a training group that&#8217;ll include\u00a0<strong>AJ Pouch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Carles Coll<\/strong>, and <strong>Luan Grobbelaar<\/strong>.
