My parents and my coaches at the TAC Titans were a huge support to me throughout the entire process, and I couldn\u2019t have done it without them. UVA\u2019s amazing academics and athletics make me thrilled to have the opportunity to attend, and I can\u2019t wait to be swimming with you all. GO HOOS!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Haughey does his club swimming with TAC Titans and is the owner of three Trials cuts with several U.S. Open and Junior National standards. He picked up three best times in intrasquad meets this past summer after winning the 1000 free at Cary Sectionals in March. At the Toyota U.S. Open, he placed 25th in the 400m IM.<\/p>\n<p>In summer 2019, Haughey earned gold in the 400m free at North Carolina LCM Seniors where he also grabbed bronze in the 400m IM and placed fourth in the 800m free. He then went on to win the 400m free and 200m back at Greensboro Futures while adding a fifth-place showing in the 400m IM.<\/p>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>200 free \u2013 1:39.01<\/li>\n<li>500 free \u2013 4:26.44<\/li>\n<li>1000 free \u2013 9:05.39<\/li>\n<li>1650 free \u2013 15:18.49<\/li>\n<li>100 back \u2013 49.77<\/li>\n<li>200 back \u2013 1:45.78<\/li>\n<li>200 IM \u2013 1:50.85<\/li>\n<li>400 IM \u2013 3:56.91<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at Middle Creek High School, Haughey is already a four-time individual North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. He won the 500 free and was the runner-up in the 200 free as a sophomore while taking second and fifth, respectively, in those events during his freshman season.<\/p>\n<p>He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Even with just under two years to go before suiting up for the Cavaliers at the start of the 2022-23 season, Haughey will make a big impact in the distance events and 400 IM.
