NEW COMMIT: <\/b>The University of Alabama has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2022 season from distance freestyle specialist <\/span>Kylee Grafmiller <\/b>of Humble, Texas. She currently holds the fastest mile time in her recruiting class.<\/span><\/p>\n

She will join <\/span>Stella Grace Watts<\/b><\/a> in Tuscaloosa as a member of Bama’s Class of 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

She told <\/span>Swimming World:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic career at the University of Alabama! I choose Alabama because of it\u2019s amazing coaching staff, it\u2019s wonderful team, and the never ending opportunities to grow! I want to thank my coaches, my teammates, my family, my friends, and especially my sister. I\u2019m excited to start this new journey in Tuscaloosa!! Roll Tide ?\ufe0f\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Grafmiller does her club swimming with <\/span>Blue Tide Aquatics and last competed at College Station Sectionals where she was the runner-up in the 800m free and took fourth in the 400m free. At Juniors West in December, she placed fifth in the mile, sixth in the 500 free, and 20th in the 200 free.<\/span><\/p>\n

In summer 2019, she grabbed gold in the 200m free, 400m free, and 1500m free while collecting silver in the 800m free at Southern Zone Seniors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • 1650 free \u2013 16:28.47<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 1000 free \u2013 10:02.10<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 500 free \u2013 4:49.20<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 200 free \u2013 1:48.79<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 100 free \u2013 51.59<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Currently a junior at Kingwood High School, Grafmiller finished second in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free during her sophomore season at the Texas 6A State Championships. She placed first and second, respectively, in those events at the Region 06 meet two weeks prior as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Grafmiller will make an immediate impact when she arrives in Tuscaloosa at the start of the 2022-23 season and will fill the distance freestyle void that will be left due to the graduation of <\/span>Kensey McMahon<\/b>. She\u2019ll find a great training partner in future classmate Watts, and she would\u2019ve placed 17th in the mile at the 2020 SEC Championships.<\/span><\/p>\n
