Marie Wattel, Maria Kameneva<\/strong> and Christian Diener<\/strong> helped guide London Roar to a convincing lead at the end of the first day of their opening match in the International Swimming League in Budapest.<\/p>\n

Diener won the men’s 50 and 200 backstroke – the former in a new national record of 22.76 as he cut 0.09 from Thomas Rupprath’<\/strong>s mark from the 2009 European Short-Course Championships in Istanbul, consigning another shiny-suit record to history.<\/p>\n

Wattel took the win in the opening race of the session – the 100 fly – and also featured in Roar’s victorious 4x100m medley relay and 4×100 free teams.<\/p>\n

Kameneva had a packed schedule that saw her anchor the women’s 4×100 medley relay to ensure Roar would have the pick of the strokes for Monday’s skins, a series of knockout races where the remaining two swimmers go head to head.<\/p>\n

The Russian was also part of the winning 4×100 free team as well as placing second and third in the 50 back and 50 free respectively.<\/p>\n

The impact of the jackpot times, which really played to the hands of Cali Condors in the opening match, was not as great on Sunday.<\/p>\n

There are just 16 points separating second and fourth.<\/p>\n

Duncan Scott<\/strong> anchored London Roar to victory in 3:23.18 for a men’s and women’s medley relay double. It means they too will pick the stroke for the men’s skins races.<\/p>\n
Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay<\/h3>\n
London Roar 2 enjoyed the most emphatic of wins in 3:50.27 to ensure they will pick the stroke for Monday’s skins. Kira Toussaint<\/strong> led them off in 56.5, handing over to Alia Atkinson<\/strong> (1:03.8) and Marie Wattel<\/strong> extending the lead on fly (56.8) with Marie Kameneva bringing them home. DC Trident were second.<\/p>\n
Men’s 400m Freestyle<\/h3>\n
Zane Grothe<\/strong> snatched victory in the last 25 in 3:39.79\u00a0 following a second 200 of 1:50.3 for DC Trident. Mykhailo Romanchuk<\/strong> had appeared on course for the win but he had to be content with second with Aqua team-mate Luiz Altamir Melo<\/strong> third.<\/p>\n
Women’s 400m Freestyle<\/h3>\n
Valentine Dumont\u00a0<\/strong>negative split to win from lane eight in a new PB of 4:00.37 for Aqua Centurions. Veronika Andrusenko<\/strong> took second for Iron with Aimee Willmott<\/strong> of London Roar third.<\/p>\n
Men’s 50m Backstroke<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Christian Diener<\/strong> and Guilherme Guido<\/strong> took a one-two to secure 26pts for London Roar. Diener set a PB of 22.76 – a new national record – as he inflicted the first defeat on Guido in ISL with Iron’s Guilherme Basseto<\/strong> third.<\/p>\n

Linnea Mack<\/strong> executed a superb underwater to earn a surprise win for DC Trident ahead of Roar duo Kameneva and Toussaint.<\/p>\n
Men’s 4×100 Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n
Aqua Centurions enjoyed a dominant victory in 3:05.94 ahead of DC Trident and Iron with London Roar in fourth. It saw Roar’s lead cut by Iron with the London-based team winning 188 to 151.<\/p>\n
Women’s 50 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Alia Atkinson<\/strong> led from start to finish to win for London Roar in 29.20. Ida Sulkko<\/strong> was second for Iron with Martina Carraro third for Aqua.<\/p>\n

Sydney Pickrem<\/strong> touched first for London Roar with Bailey Andison<\/strong> springing a shock for DC Trident in second as she held off Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Philip Heintz<\/strong> took over going into the final leg and extended his lead to take the win for Aqua Centurions. Team-mate Gabriel Santos<\/strong> was second.<\/p>\n
Women’s 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Ranomi Kromowidjojo <\/strong>(23.64) and Henique got an Iron one-two and put 28pts on the board as they took Aqua’s points. Kameneva got third for Roar who were already looking ominous.<\/p>\n

Maxim Lobanovszkij<\/strong> touched first for Iron ahead of Szabo and Zach Apple.<\/p>\n
Women’s 4×100 Freestyle<\/h3>\n
London Roar 2 led from gun to tape to win in 3:30.91 ahead of DC Trident, Team Iron and Aqua Centurions. The quartet of Marie Wattel, Siobhan O’Connor, Maria Kameneva<\/strong> and Anna Hopkin<\/strong> were dominant to pick up 18pts. London Roar forfeited their points in the jackpot.<\/p>\n
It means that London Roar are comfortably ahead at the first break with just six points separating the remaining three teams.<\/p>\n

Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> led from start to finish to take the win in 2:04.60 with his London Roar team-mate Adam Peaty<\/strong> coming back in the final 50 to snatch second. Thomas Cope<\/strong> of DC Trident was third.<\/p>\n
Women’s 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n
Annie Lazor<\/strong> enjoyed an emphatic win for London Roar in 2:18.85 after overhauling Bethany Galat<\/strong> who led at halfway. The DC Trident swimmer took second with Sydney Pickrem<\/strong> third as Roar claimed 21pts with three swimmers forfeiting to Lazor.<\/p>\n
Men’s 200 Backstroke<\/h3>\n
Christian Diener<\/strong> and Luke Greenbank<\/strong> earned 15pts for Roar as they came first and third, the former stopping the clock at 1:49.51. Jacob Pebley<\/strong> picked up seven points for Trident in second.<\/p>\n
Women’s 200 Backstroke\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Amy Bilquist<\/strong> led from start to finish to touch first in 2:02.23 and claim maximum points for DC Trident with Kira Toussaint<\/strong> on the board for London Roar in second and Daria Zevina<\/strong> third for Iron. Trident and Roar both earned 12 points.<\/p>\n
Men’s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n
Szebasztian Szabo<\/strong> led home an Aqua Centurions one-two, winning in 49.93 ahead of Matteo Rivolta<\/strong> as the team earned 17pts.<\/p>\n
Women’s 100 Fly<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Marie Wattel<\/strong> took the first win of the afternoon with a dominant victory in 54.65. Melanie Henique<\/strong> led at halfway but the London Roar swimmer overhauled her on the third 25 with Emilie Beckmann<\/strong> of Iron and Tain Bruce<\/strong> of Aqua second and third respectively. Three swimmers forfeited their points to Wattel who earned her team 15pts.<\/p>\n
