On Saturday, Kibler dominantly took the upper hand in the matchup at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swim Center in Austin.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a tri-meet also featuring Texas A&amp;M and Southern Methodist, Kibler delivered the 18th-fastest time in the history of the 200 free when he stopped the clock in 1:31.10. That mark was not far off his personal best of 1:30.83, posted last December. Foster was the runnerup, but his 1:33.41 was well back of his teammate.<\/p>\n<p>Kibler set the stage for a strong 200 freestyle when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/drew-kibler-throws-down-408-500-freestyle-at-texas-first-chance-casas-blasts-44-100-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">won the 500 freestyle on Friday night<\/a> in 4:08.26, the fourth-fastest time ever recorded. In the 200 free, Kibler wasted little time taking control, as he immediately surged to the lead behind a 50 split of 20.92 and a 100 split of 43.77. Kibler made the 150 turn in 1:07.09 and came home in 24.01.<\/p>\n<p>Like Kibler, Foster was coming off a superb performance from Friday night. On the first day of the meet, the freshman standout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-pops-nag-record-in-400-i-m-third-fastest-time-in-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">established a National Age Group (NAG) record<\/a> in the 17-18 category in the 400 individual medley. Foster won that event in 3:35.27, which trails only <strong>Chase Kalisz\u2019s<\/strong> marks of 3:33.42 and 3:34.50 on the all-time list.<\/p>\n<p>In other action, the Longhorns\u2019 <strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> won the 100 freestyle in 42.33 while freshman <strong>David Johnston<\/strong> put together an impressive showing of 14:47.75 in the 1650 free. <strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong> handed Texas a win in the 100 butterfly (45.75).
