\nSix-time U.S. Olympic Swimming Team coach Jon Urbanchek, who retired Aug. 31 from both coaching and his role as the USA Swimming National Team Technical Advisor, was named this year\u2019s recipient of the USA Swimming Award during the USA Swimming Virtual Convention in September.<\/p>\n

011 NATIONAL CHAMPION EMMA WEYANT DEFERRING ENROLLMENT TO VIRGINIA TO TRAIN FOR OLYMPIC TRIALS<\/strong><\/span>

\nEmma Weyant, who won the 400 IM in 2019 at U.S. nationals and was ranked sixth in the world that year, would have been a freshman at the University of Virginia this fall. Instead, she is deferring her enrollment to train one more year with the Sarasota Sharks and focus on the U.S. Olympic Trials.<\/p>\n

012 WISCONSIN SWIMMING & DIVING STARTS NEW ERA IN NEW FACILITY<\/strong><\/span>

\nThe University of Wisconsin opened its new aquatic facility, the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center, on Oct. 1. The pool was originally set to be completed in 2019, but construction delays pushed the official opening date to the spring of 2020, which was then affected by COVID-19 closures.<\/p>\n
