NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>U.S. National Junior Team member\u00a0Ryenne “Rye” Ulett\u00a0<\/strong>has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville<\/span> and will join the Cardinals<\/span> in the fall of 2022.<\/p>\n

As one of the most sought-out recruits in the Class of 2026, Ulett is a huge get for UofL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Her older sister,\u00a0Tristan Ulett<\/strong><\/a>, just started her freshman season at Louisville.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Louisville! Thank you to God, my family, coaches, and teammates for helping me along this journey. Go Cards \u2764\ufe0f??”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ulett is a member of the 2019-20 National Junior Team in both the 100m and 200m backstroke after her stellar performance at Phillips 66 Nationals. where she placed ninth in the 200m back and 17th in the 100m back. A week later, she earned silver in the 100m back and finished 10th in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n

Her time of 2:09.70 she posted in the 200m back at Nationals propelled her to No. 2 all-time in the event for 13-14 girls. She became just the second girl in that age group to ever break the 2:10 mark and was just off\u00a0Missy Franklin’s\u00a0<\/strong>NAG record of 2:09.16.<\/p>\n

Ulett earned herself a spot on Team USA for the 7th FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest last summer at only 14 years old. She placed 12th overall in the 200m back.<\/p>\n

    She also owns four Olympic Trials cuts:<\/p>\n

    • 200m back – 2:09.70<\/li>\n
    • 200m IM – 2:16.79<\/li>\n
    • 100m fly – 1:00.37<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In December 2019, Ulett raced to 11th in the 100m back and 12th in the 200m back at the Toyota U.S. Open. She then went on to win the 200 back and collect bronze in the 100 back at Juniors East. Ulett most recently competed at the Southern Premier Invitational in March, recording four new best times and posting five top-6 finishes.<\/p>\n

      The owner of several U.S. Open standards and four Olympic Trials cuts, Ulett trains year-round with Dynamo Swim Club for coach\u00a0Ian Murray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Ulett will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Cardinals\u00a0<\/strong>at the start of the 2022-23 season, as her best time in the 200 back would’ve scored in the B-final at the 2019 NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n

      She would’ve been the runner-up in the 200 back at the 2020 ACC Championships, and she also would’ve placed in the B-final of the 100 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Under head coach\u00a0Arthur Albiero<\/strong>, the Cardinals finished third at last season’s conference meet.<\/p>\n

      History was made in 2019 for the Cardinals as they became the first ACC program in history to have both its men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams finish among the top-five in the team standings at the NCAA Championships in the same year. Highlighted by a pair of national titles for Mallory Comerford<\/strong>, the women\u2019s team recorded their highest finish in program history with a fourth-place showing at the 2019 NCAA Championships. Their score of 235 points was the most points scored by a Cardinal team at NCAAs in history, and Louisville secured third place at the ACC Championships.<\/p>\n
