NC State swimming and diving head coach Braden Holloway<\/strong> announced the addition of Riley Boulden<\/strong> to his staff as a volunteer assistant coach.<\/p>\n

Boulden comes to Raleigh with nearly 10 years of coaching experience and most recently served as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) from 2017-2020. In three seasons with the Owls, he helped the men’s squad achieve a runner-up finish at the 2019 Conference USA Championship and aided the women’s squad in increasing its placing at the league meet from sixth to third. Boulden also played an integral role in leading FAU’s recruiting efforts and overseeing the sprint group.<\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to have Riley joining the Pack family,” said Holloway. “He brings extensive experience in the coaching world and has developed a great database of knowledge and skills. His eagerness and work ethic are contagious to everyone around, and we look forward to having Riley contribute to our team’s process.”<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the Owls, Riley Boulden spent three years (2014-17) as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s programs at Army. Both teams earned No. 2 Patriot League Championships finishes during his tenure, and he also played a role in coaching multiple individual conference title winners. Boulden also coached athletes at US Nationals, World Trials and the 2016 Olympic Trials.<\/p>\n

He started his collegiate coaching career at DePauw University, where he served as the assistant men’s swim coach and the associate aquatics director. From 2012-14, Boulden helped orchestrate two top-three conference finishes, top top-15 finishes at the Division III NCAA Championships and 18 All-America honors.<\/p>\n

As a swimmer, Boulden was a two-time Indiana state champion before beginning his collegiate career at Alabama. While a member of the Rolling Tide’s squad from 2006-2010, Boulden secured two top-20 finishes at World Trials, achieved two Olympic Trials cuts and set the program record in the 200 IM that remained unbeaten until 2017.<\/p>\n

A native of Indianapolis, Riley Boulden graduated from Alabama in 2010 with a degree in commerce and business administration. He is also working toward achieving his master’s in sport and recreation management from Indiana State.<\/p>\n
