I could tell they care about their swimmers both in and out of the pool and value character and hard work! The girls on their team are super outgoing and genuine, which made me feel like I would really fit in! Their team is so supportive of each other and focused on their team goals, which is something I\u2019m super pumped to be a part of! Can\u2019t wait to be a member of Buckeye Nation! GO BUCKS!!!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A talented freestyler and backstroker, Peterson does her club swimming with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics. She recently picked up six new best times at intrasquad meets throughout July and August. Before COVID-19 hit, she finished second in the 1000 free, third in the 500 free, and eighth in the 200 back at Virginia Seniors in March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last summer, she recorded five top-8 finishes at Virginia LCM Seniors which included a runner-up performance in the 800m free. Peterson then went on to race seven events at NCSAs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her best times include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200 free \u2013 1:49.95<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">500 free \u2013 4:48.80<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1000 free \u2013 9:49.84<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1650 free \u2013 17:04.70<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200 back \u2013 1:59.27<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 back \u2013 58.62<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400 IM \u2013 4:25.76<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently a junior at Deep Run High School, Peterson placed ninth in the 200 free at the Virginia Class 5 State Championships during her sophomore season. As a freshman, she won the 500 free and took sixth in the 100 back at the VHSL 5B Region Championships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even with just under two years to go before arriving in Columbus in the fall of 2022, Peterson will make a big impact in Ohio State\u2019s freestyle group.
