That time is a cut of some two seconds from his previous best, <a href=\"https:\/\/translate.googleusercontent.com\/translate_c?depth=1&amp;hl=en&amp;prev=search&amp;pto=aue&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;sl=es&amp;sp=nmt4&amp;u=https:\/\/www.nataccion.com\/ranking-mundial-200-libre-masculino-2020\/&amp;usg=ALkJrhhoB4mPM8pR2yywwqBzj7z_tbOFWg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">per reports<\/a>. It would\u2019ve made <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fina.org\/competition-detailed-results\/155492\/41889\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the A final of the 2019 World Junior Championships<\/a>, finishing eighth in an event won by <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> of the United States in 1:46.97. Urlando holds the American <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/times\/popular-resources\/national-age-group-records\/lcm\/15-16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15-16 national age-group record<\/a> in the 200 free at 1:47.73.<\/p>\n<p>Yanagimoto is within two seconds of the fastest 2020 time by a Japanese swimmer in the 200 free (1:45.82 by <strong>Katsuhiro Matsumoto<\/strong>). Matsumoto won a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in the event in a national record of 1:45.22.<\/p>\n<p>Yanagimoto followed that up with a 49.41 in the 100 free.
