NEW COMMIT: <\/b>The Ohio State University has added a new addition to their Class of 2025 after earning a verbal commitment from Ortonville, Mich. native <\/span>Michael Cooper<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He will arrive in Columbus at the start of the 2021-22 season along with <\/span>Will Bansburg<\/b><\/a>,<\/span> Tim Kalin<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>Grafton Parlette<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>Alex Quach<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>Josh Bogniard<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>Karl Helmuth<\/b><\/a> and <\/span>Luke Paxton<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to announce that I am going to continue my academic and athletic career at The Ohio State University! I would like to thank my coaches for making me the swimmer I am today. I would also like to thank my family and friends for all the support along the way! Go bucks!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An incredibly versatile swimmer, Cooper trains year-round with OLY Swimming and owns several Junior National standards. He most recently competed at the Michigan Open in February where he recorded six top-5 finishes.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • 200 back \u2013 1:50.68<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 100 breast \u2013 56.38<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 200 breast \u2013 2:03.26<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 200 IM \u2013 1:49.91<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 400 IM \u2013 3:53.92<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Last summer, he had an incredible showing at NCSAs where he earned six new lifetime bests. He was the runner-up in the 400m IM and placed eighth in the 200m IM as well as 17th in the 200m breast.<\/span><\/p>\n

    He will add valuable IM and distance freestyle depth to the Buckeyes\u2019 lineup next year. He would\u2019ve placed in the C-final of the 400 IM at the 2020 Big Ten Championships and is just on the outskirt of scoring in the mile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
