3-time Open water Olympian\u00a0Haley Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>will be making her International Swimming League debut this year with the Cali Condors, the team announced Friday. Anderson, who won the silver medal in the 10K at the 2012 Olympic Games, will be a member of a stacked Condors team that boasted the top women’s team in points in 2019.<\/p>\n

Anderson’s talent will be limited as there will be no events over 400 meters in the league so she will likely be doing the 400 freestyle and or the 400 IM. Anderson, who won the silver medal at last summer’s World Championships in the 10K<\/a> that secured her spot on the Olympic team to Tokyo, was ranked 26th in the world in the 400 freestyle in 2019 with a 4:07.77 in long course.<\/p>\n

Haley Anderson swam four years at the University of Southern California<\/a> where she won back to back NCAA titles in the 500 freestyle in 2012<\/a> and 2013<\/a>, and also won the 1650 in her senior year in 2013<\/a>. She also finished sixth in the 10K at the 2016 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

Anderson will be joining a Condors team that lost its Australian members that will be unable to leave the country<\/a> per an order from the swimming federation over concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Condors will be losing distance swimmer\u00a0Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> as well as\u00a0Jack Cartwright<\/strong>,\u00a0Meg Harris<\/strong>,\u00a0Mitch Larkin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Clyde Lewis<\/strong>, and Queensland-based coach\u00a0Dean Boxall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Condors also recently announced the signing of\u00a0Khader Baqlah<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of Jordan, who just finished his career at the University of Florida and won the 2020 SEC title in the 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n
