{"id":446716,"date":"2020-09-16T01:05:20","date_gmt":"2020-09-16T08:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=446716"},"modified":"2020-09-16T01:05:20","modified_gmt":"2020-09-16T08:05:20","slug":"swim-england-welcome-news-after-water-polo-gets-green-light-to-return-to-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swim-england-welcome-news-after-water-polo-gets-green-light-to-return-to-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Swim England Welcome News After Water Polo Gets Green Light To Return To Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Swim England CEO Jane Nickerson<\/strong> has welcomed news that water polo clubs have been given the green light to return to training and competition.<\/p>\n<p>The governing body had submitted evidence to the <strong>Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport<\/strong> at the beginning of the month and it has now been confirmed that water polo is on the approved list of sports allowed to restart competitive action following the easing of coronavirus lockdown measures.<\/p>\n<p>Research, expert advice from within the game and\u00a0existing Swim England guidance around activity in a chlorinated environment has led to the conclusion that water polo presents a medium level risk as a sport.<\/p>\n<p>As a result specific guidance has been published for water polo clubs that includes guidelines on social distancing during breaks and post-game, use of equipment, advice for match officials and coaches, injury treatment plus information for spectators.<\/p>\n<p>Nickerson welcomed water polo&#8217;s return by tweeting:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;Brilliant news for water polo.
