Photo Courtesy: Linkedf In.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Swimming NZ Chief Executive Steve Johns said: \u201cWe absolutely appreciate the disruption that this change will cause in terms of travel, accommodation and additional cost, but we believe that the chance of being able to hold this event in Auckland in three weeks time, is very low and therefore we wanted to give everyone as much time as possible to make alternative arrangements for the new venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this remains incredibly unsettling and uncertain times,\u00a0we are getting closer to having our first National meet in over seven months which I am sure will be a great celebration of swimming and friendship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a result\u00a0of this separation requirement, we will be refunding all\u00a0spectator\u00a0tickets sold\u00a0and will reintroduce spectator ticket sales once\u00a0we have confirmed the logistical arrangements with the Hamilton City Council and venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll sessions of the Championships will be live streamed free-to-air on <a href=\"https:\/\/swimming.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=c958bab33f55d7727879193d4&amp;id=5df37a59c2&amp;e=0448064890\"><strong>Sky Sport Next Youtube Channel<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould Hamilton not be in Alert Level 1 on the first day of competition then the meet will be cancelled.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move follows the New Zealand Government\u2019s decision to extend the existing Covid Alert Levels until at least midnight on Monday September 21.<\/p>\n<p>Next Monday, the Government will consider whether Auckland can move from level 2.5 to level 2 (moving to level 1 is highly unlikely) and the rest of the country moving from level 2 to level 1.<\/p>\n<p>Johns had earlier in the week informed the NZ Swimming community that \u201cIf Auckland does move down the alert levels to level 2 mid next week, it is likely, based on past decisions, that Auckland would stay in level 2, with the accompanying restrictions on gatherings of up to 100 people, for up to 14 days taking us into the Short Course Championship due to commence on Tuesday 6 October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the ongoing uncertainty around the change of alert levels and the requirement for a host city to be in level 1 to hold a National Championships event, we are proposing that to significantly increase the likelihood of being able to hold the Short Course Championships, that this event be moved to Waterworld in Hamilton on the same dates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entries for the meet will close at 11.59 pm on Tuesday, September 22<\/strong>.\u00a0Anyone who has already entered but cannot now compete due to the venue change will be provided with a full refund.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swimming New Zealand has today moved swiftly to announce the relocation of next month\u2019s return to racing at the\u00a0Aon NZ Short Course Championships from Auckland to Hamilton (October 6-10) due<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7938,"featured_media":446706,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"dois","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[3,122075],"tags":[59976],"class_list":["post-446703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-oceania","tag-steve-johns"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.3 (Yoast SEO v24.3) -
