Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/international-swimming-league-season-2-launched-with-new-teams-rules-eyes-on-tokyo-for-the-grand-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>By Liz Byrnes, Europe Correspondent<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second season of the<strong>\u00a0International Swimming League (ISL)<\/strong>\u00a0has been launched with two additional teams, new rules\u00a0 and a possible trip to Tokyo for the grand final in December.<\/p>\n<p>ISL founder\u00a0<strong>Konstantin Grigorishin<\/strong>, technical director\u00a0<strong>Apostolos Tsagkarakis<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Hubert Montcoudiol<\/strong>, head of commercial operations, appeared in a virtual press conference in Paris with a picture of<strong>\u00a0Florent Manaudou<\/strong> \u2013 whose appearance in the skins decider at the grand final ensured victory for Energy Standard last season \u2013 as backdrop.<\/p>\n<p>Grigorishin talked of \u201csportainment\u201d \u2013 performance plus entertainment \u2013 and allowing spectators not only to observe but to interact \u2013 \u201cthey would like to be actors,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>So too did the Ukrainian emphasise the nature of the competition where claiming points for your team is paramount.<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us records and time is not a big issue any more. Time is more a modern thing. It is more like a scientific experiment but when we are talking about post-modern competition: we don\u2019t have time, we have to have some eternal achievements.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf you are creating superheroes, if you are creating legends \u2013 it should be eternal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor instance, Johnny Weismuller. The swimmer who first swam faster than one minute in the 100 freestyle. following their cancellation in 2020 due to the impacts of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, it will be the first national event held in the coastal city since the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2018-australian-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2018 Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Trials<\/a>\u00a0for Commonwealth Games team selection.<\/p>\n<p>Still\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/breaking-swimming-australia-releases-2021-calendar-with-domestic-competition-to-play-vital-role\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener June \u2013 effectively marking the start of the competition on 5 April.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian Swimming Championships will provide a valuable hit out for Olympic hopefuls as they will have the chance to swim morning finals to replicate and prepare for what they will experience in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Age swimmers from all over the country will have an added incentive as the meet will be a
