He led the Horned Frogs\u2019 sprint and stroke contingents, helping TCU\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s team each finish third at the Big 12 championships last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am truly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead Drexel University Swimming and Diving,&#8221; Lavery said <a href=\"https:\/\/drexeldragons.com\/news\/2020\/9\/10\/mens-swimming-diving-drexel-names-nathan-lavery-head-swimming-and-diving-coach.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a university statement<\/a>. &#8220;My wife Amy and I are thrilled to be a part of this great institution and what it stands for. We have great appreciation for Dr. <strong>Eric Zillmer&#8217;s<\/strong> vision for Drexel University&#8217;s place in the ever-changing landscape of college athletics. This is a university that already provides a life-changing student-athlete experience, and our team will strive to continue that excellence both in and out of the pool.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lavery is familiar with the Philadelphia area, having spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Villanova, where he was part of four straight Big East women\u2019s championships. He\u2019s also coached at Georgia Tech and began at his alma mater, Texas A&amp;M. Lavery coached age-groupers at West Houston Aquatics.<\/p>\n<p>The 2011 graduate of the Aggies earned All-America status on relays and was a regular Big 12 finalist.<\/p>\n<p>Lavery is the 11th coach of the men\u2019s program and the seventh of the women\u2019s. <strong>Adam Braun<\/strong> had led the program for <a href=\"https:\/\/drexeldragons.com\/sports\/mens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\/coaches\/adam-braun\/1197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the last six seasons<\/a>. The Drexel men finished <a href=\"https:\/\/drexeldragons.com\/news\/2020\/2\/22\/mens-swimming-diving-mens-swimming-and-diving-places-third-in-caa-championships-wins-two-golds-on-day-four.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">third at the CAA Championships in 2020<\/a>, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/drexeldragons.com\/news\/2020\/2\/22\/womens-swimming-diving-womens-swimming-and-diving-complete-caa-championships-with-two-gold-one-silver.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">women in fourth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to welcome Nathan Lavery to the Dragon family as our new head swimming and diving coach,&#8221; Drexel Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance <strong>Bridget Snyder<\/strong> said. &#8220;Nathan brings a strong combination of experience and passion for collegiate athletics. His dynamic coaching style focuses on challenging each of our athletes uniquely, while encouraging the high level of academics to which Drexel is accustomed.
