Texas A&M on Wednesday announced<\/a> the name of its new swimming and diving facility: Anne S. & Henry B. \u201cHank\u201d Paup \u201970 Pavilion.<\/p>\n

The new facility, on which ground was broken in 2019<\/a>, is named for its lead donors. The Paup Pavilion includes a dryland diving center, locker rooms, athletic training rooms and offices. The upgrades include an exterior lobby which provides people going to the aquatic facility a separate entrance from the main recreation center. The lobby also has space to showcase A&M swimming\u2019s history, including its trophy case.<\/p>\n

The Anne S. & Henry B. \u201cHank\u201d Paup \u201970 Pavilion is set to be finished this fall with a grand opening scheduled for January 2021.<\/p>\n

Hank Paup swam at Texas A&M from 1966-70 as a walk-on, going on to set the school record in the mile at the 1969 Southwest Conference Championships. He obtained his law degree<\/a> at Southern Methodist University. He and Anne established an endowed scholarship<\/a> in 2014.<\/p>\n

“When I was on the swimming team at Texas A&M (1966-70), I could never have imagined having the opportunity to contribute back to the swimming & diving program with this expansion to our current world-class natatorium,\u201d Hank Paup said in a university statement. The addition of locker rooms, coaches\u2019 offices and training facilities will greatly enhance the resources our student-athletes need to train and compete at the highest level. Anne and I are honored to be in a position to share some of our lifelong blessings in order to lead on this project.”<\/p>\n
