Passages: Two-Time Olympian Laszlo Cseh Sr. Dies at 68<\/strong><\/p>\n

Laszlo Cseh Sr.<\/strong>, a two-time Olympian<\/a> while representing Hungary, died on August 24 at the age of 68. The death of Cseh Sr. was announced by his son, six-time Olympic medalist Laszlo Cseh Jr.<\/strong> Taking to Facebook, the younger Cseh said of his father: \u201cThe loss of a Father is an irreplaceable space for every child. It is for me too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The elder Cseh contested the 100-meter backstroke at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City and the 1972 Games in Munich, where he was also a member of Hungary\u2019s 400 medley relay. A European youth champion, he also competed internationally at the European Championships and finished fifth in the 100 backstroke at the inaugural World Championships in 1973 in Belgrade.<\/p>\n

During his career, the elder Cseh also raced at an elite level in the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke, his multi-event talent obviously carrying forth to his namesake son, who has shined in numerous disciplines on the global stage. The younger<\/a> Cseh, a world champion and three-time silver medalist to Michael Phelps<\/strong> at the 2008 Olympics, took his father\u2019s international skill set to another level by medaling individually at the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He is targeting a return to the Games next summer in Tokyo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
