NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Tennessee has scored a big verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Canadian National Teamer\u00a0Brooklyn Douthwright\u00a0<\/strong>of Riverview, New Brunswick.<\/p>\n

She\u2019ll arrive in Knoxville as a member of the Lady Vols’ class of 2025 along with\u00a0Sammy Huff<\/strong>,<\/a> Cory Shanks<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Amber Myers<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Sara Stotler<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Kate<\/strong>\u00a0McCarville<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Lauren Wetherell<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Summer Eaker<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Josephine Fuller<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Summer Smith<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Asia Minnes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee! Everything from the coaches and athletes to the facilities and resources makes me confident that I have found my home away from home! A huge thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout my athletic and academic careers! Can\u2019t wait to be a lady vol ?”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A talented freestyler, Douthwright advanced to the semifinals of the 100m free at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships last summer, finishing 13th overall. She also anchored Team Canada’s 4x100m medley relay and led-off their 4x200m free relay that both secured the bronze medal.<\/p>\n

Douthwright, who trains with Codiac Vikings Aquatic Club, raced five events at the Toyota U.S. Open in December after winning the 400m free at the Toronto Grand Prix in January. She most recently registered seven top-10 finishes at the Ontario Youth Championships in March and placed ninth in the 400m free, 13th in the 200m free, and 14th in the 100m free at Canadian Trials in April 2019.<\/p>\n
