NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Akron has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Winter Springs, Fla. native\u00a0Julia Mauter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

She will join Kendall Craig<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Amelia<\/strong> Kane<\/strong><\/a>, and Abby Daniel<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as members of the Zips\u2019 class of 2025.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am SO blessed and excited to announce that I have verbally committed to swim and study at the University of Akron!\u00a0 I could not be more grateful for my friends, family, coaches and teammates that have helped me reach this point.\u00a0 I can’t wait for the next 4 years with the best team on earth.\u00a0 And, for the first time every, GO ZIPS!”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A talented sprinter, Mauter does her club swimming with Blue Dolfins and is a Junior National qualifier. She had a strong showing at NCSAs last spring and recently notched a lifetime best at the Florida OT Qualifying Meet. Last summer, she earned a best time at Gainesville Sectionals before going on to place 24th in the 100m free at Greensboro Futures.<\/p>\n

  • 50 free – 23.76<\/li>\n
  • 100 free – 50.99<\/li>\n
  • 200 free – 1:51.78<\/li>\n
  • 100 back – 57.53<\/li>\n
  • 100 fly – 56.76<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Also competing for Winter Springs High School, Mauter is a six-time Florida State Championship finalist. She finished second in the 100 free and third in the 50 free as a junior at the 3A meet while taking fifth and ninth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season at the 4A meet.<\/p>\n

    Mauter will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she gets to campus next year. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 free at the 2020 MAC Championships where, under head coach Brian Peresie<\/strong>, Akron clinched their seventh-straight team title.<\/p>\n
