Gal Nevo<\/strong>, a three-time Olympian representing Israel, is among seven people announced Monday as part of the Class of 2020 for the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Joining Nevo is football player Morgan Burnett,<\/strong> tennis player Amanda McDowell,<\/strong> golfer Chesson Hadley,<\/strong> football coach George O\u2019Leary,<\/strong> baseball player Deck McGuire<\/strong> and softball player Aileen Morales.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt means a lot to me personally to be able to welcome these seven individuals to the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame,\u201d director of athletics Todd Stansbury<\/strong> said in a university statement<\/a>. \u201cNot only is this one of our most decorated Hall of Fame classes ever due to their incredible athletic achievements, but it is comprised of first-class people that represent Georgia Tech in a way that makes all of us proud. It\u2019s a privilege to induct them into the GT Sports Hall of Fame.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevo is one of the most decorated swimmers in program history. An Arizona State transfer, he was twice named ACC Swimmer of the Year (2009, 2010). The five-time ACC champion and four-time All-American twice finished runner-up at NCAAs<\/a> in the 400 individual medley. He set schools records in the 200 IM and 400 IM, the latter of which still stands, plus the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

Nevo, born in Hamadia, Israel, represented his country at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics, finishing as high as 10th in the London Games in the 400 IM. He holds national records in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 fly.<\/p>\n

Nevo remains involved in the sport, the economics major having founded a company called SenSwim<\/a> that develops technology for competitive swimmers.<\/p>\n

The Class of 2020 won\u2019t have a formal induction ceremony this fall due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, instead being officially enshrined next year alongside the Class of 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
