NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Vancouver, Wash. native\u00a0Emma Matous\u00a0<\/strong>has verbally committed to UCLA<\/a> and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.<\/p>\n

She will suit up for the Bruins as a member of the class of 2025 along with\u00a0Joanie Cash<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Mia Chang<\/strong>,\u00a0Morgan Hawes<\/strong>,\u00a0Taylor Schaffer<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Paige MacEachern<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Eva Carlson<\/strong>,\u00a0Ana Jih-Schiff<\/strong>,\u00a0Kathryn Lundh<\/strong>, and\u00a0Ashley Stenstrom<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA! Thank you to all my coaches, family and friends who have helped me to get here. I can\u2019t wait to live in LA! GO BRUINS!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A versatile swimmer who is a Junior National qualifier, Matous swims year-round with Tualatin Hills Swim Club and finished 21st in the 400 IM at Juniors West in December. Last summer, she earned bronze in the 200m IM at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to record a trio of top-15 finishes at Mount Hood Futures.<\/p>\n

  • 200 free \u2013 1:53.28<\/li>\n
  • 100 back \u2013 58.05<\/li>\n
  • 200 back \u2013 2:02.22<\/li>\n

  • 200 breast \u2013 2:18.74<\/li>\n
  • 200 IM \u2013 2:03.34<\/li>\n
  • 400 IM \u2013 4:21.26<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Also competing for Jesuit High School, Matous is a six-time Oregon 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished third in the 200 IM and placed fourth in the 100 breast as a junior while taking fifth in both of those events during her sophomore season.<\/p>\n
