Time trials only count in certain circumstances, though it appears that the meet is official and full race conditions apply at the Shandong event.<\/p>\n<p>Heats are being held in the evening, with morning finals the following day to mirror the<a href=\"https:\/\/tokyo2020.org\/en\/schedule\/swimming-schedule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Olympic Tokyo 202One Olympic program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Asian record had stood to Yan Zibei at 58.63 since he claimed bronze behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-a-record-third-title-in-pantheon-and-james-wilby-punch-great-britain-1-2-at-world-championships-race-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Britain&#8217;s Adam Peaty and James Wilby at the 2019 World Championships<\/a> in Gwangju last year.<\/p>\n<p>Yan Zibei now holds the top 15 best times ever among Chinese swimmers over 100m breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>In other events, <strong>Ji Xinjie<\/strong> led the men&#8217;s 200m freestyle qualifiers in 1:47.91; <strong>Liu Xiang<\/strong> topped the heats of the women&#8217;s 50m free in 24.25; <strong>Yang Junxuan<\/strong> the wren&#8217;s 200m free in 1:58.15; 2012 Olympic champion Ye Shiwen the 200m medley, on 2:15.69; and <strong>Peng Xuwei<\/strong> the women&#8217;s 200m backstroke on 2:09.30.<\/p>\n<p>The Place Of 100m Breaststroke<\/p>\n<p><strong>Great Britain<\/strong> celebrated gold and silver in the 100m breaststroke in Gwangju, <strong>Peaty\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Wilby<\/strong> home 57.14sec to 58.46. The battle for bronze went to <strong>Yan Zibei<\/strong> in an Asian record of 58.63, Japan\u2019s\u00a0Yasuhiro Koseki locked out in 58.93.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CCf2s7GFlSA?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Triumph made Peaty the first man to win the 100m crown three times and gave Britain its first ever gold-and-silver finish at the World Championships in any event.
