{"id":441797,"date":"2020-07-27T17:33:49","date_gmt":"2020-07-28T00:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=441797"},"modified":"2020-07-27T17:33:49","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T00:33:49","slug":"louisiana-di-state-runner-up-brooke-fegley-sends-verbal-to-texas-am-aggies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/louisiana-di-state-runner-up-brooke-fegley-sends-verbal-to-texas-am-aggies\/","title":{"rendered":"Louisiana DI State Runner-Up Brooke Fegley Sends Verbal to Texas A&#038;M Aggies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Brooke Fegley has announced her verbal commitment to the Aggies on College Swimming.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/12thman.com\/sports\/womens-swimming-and-diving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas A&amp;M University<\/a> has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from <strong>Brooke Fegley<\/strong> of Shreveport, La.<\/p>\n<p>She will join Texas natives\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-am-aggies-secure-2021-in-state-verbal-from-backstroker-meredith-brown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Meredith Brown<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shannon-bagnal-and-sarah-holt-pledge-verbals-to-texas-am-for-2021-22-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shannon Bagnal<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as well as current club teammate <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shannon-bagnal-and-sarah-holt-pledge-verbals-to-texas-am-for-2021-22-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sarah Holt<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in College Station as a member of the Aggies&#8217; class of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #a11313;\"><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at Texas A&amp;M University! I&#8217;m beyond blessed and extremely thankful for all my coaches, teammates, and family who helped me along the way. I can&#8217;t wait to be an Aggie!! Gig &#8217;em!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Primarily a sprint freestyler, Fegley does her club swimming with Red River Aquatic Club and most recently recorded six top-14 finishes at Louisiana Seniors in February. Last summer, she recorded 100% best times at the Louisiana 13&amp;O Championships where her highest finish was a third-place showing in the 200m free.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 24.17<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 52.57<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:54.87<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also competing for Captain Shreve High School, Fegley is a six-time Louisiana DI State Championship finalist. She earned silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 free during both her sophomore and junior seasons while taking 11th in the 100 free and 12th in the 200 free in her rookie campaign.<\/p>\n<p>When she suits up for the Aggies next year, Fegley will add her talents to a freestyle training group led by <strong>Emma Carlton\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Emma Stephenson<\/strong>.
