{"id":441252,"date":"2020-07-24T10:45:47","date_gmt":"2020-07-24T17:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=441252"},"modified":"2020-07-24T10:45:47","modified_gmt":"2020-07-24T17:45:47","slug":"usopc-announces-team-usa-giving-week-to-support-athletes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usopc-announces-team-usa-giving-week-to-support-athletes\/","title":{"rendered":"USOPC Announces \u2018Team USA Giving Week\u2019 to Support Athletes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee is launching the Team USA Giving Week, starting July 23, to raise funds to support athletes.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, which includes programming featuring Olympic athletes like <strong>Missy Franklin,<\/strong> coincides with the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/us-olympic-paralympic-committee-launches-covid-athlete-assistance-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 Athletic Assistance fund<\/a> this week and seeks to raise money to support athletes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to engage our committed and passionate network of supporters to help raise funds for athletes who need extra support because of the unprecedented impact of the pandemic and the Tokyo Games postponement,\u201d said U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation president <strong>Christine Walshe<\/strong> in a press release. \u201cTeam USA athletes represent the values we all strive to uphold: courage, hard work, determination and perseverance. They are living these values as they work toward representing the U.S. in Tokyo next summer, and it\u2019s only fitting that we rise to this occasion by supporting and celebrating them with the same level of dedication.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among the programming:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>July 24: Pole vaulter and Olympic silver medalist <strong>Sandi Morris<\/strong> leading a \u201chigh-energy, family-friendly virtual workout\u201d<\/li>\n<li>July 25: <strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong> and Paralympian <strong>Dartanyon Crockett<\/strong> on Instagram Live about overcoming obstacles, plus speed skater Apolo Ohno on Facebook live<\/li>\n<li>July 27: Snowboarder <strong>Alex Deibold<\/strong> will take over Team USA\u2019s Instagram story<\/li>\n<li>July 28: Soccer player <strong>Carli Lloyd<\/strong> will host a webinar about returning to sports in the U.S., along with NBC Sports\u2019 <strong>Ahmed Fareed,<\/strong> USOPC chief medical officer <strong>Jonathan Finnoff<\/strong> and USOPC Mental Health Taskforce member <strong>Kensa Gunter.<\/strong> Webinar is at noon <a href=\"https:\/\/support.teamusa.org\/event\/return-to-sport-webinar\/e187515?utm_source=FUND%200720%20-%20Save%20the%20Date%20-%20donors&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=20200717_114228_66515032&amp;utm_campaign=https:~2F~2Fsupport.teamusa.org~2Fevent~2Freturn-to-sport-webinar~2Fe187515\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">with registration and a suggest donation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Programming will be held across all the Team USA digital channels.
