The battle to restart high school athletics in Illinois may be decided by the court system. A lawsuit filed this week by lawyer Thomas DeVore<\/strong> on behalf of his children claims they will be \u201cirreparably harmed\u201d by restrictions<\/a> from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) on athletic activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

The IHSA put in place a plan to return to competition July 3<\/a> according to Phase 4 of the state plan instituted by Gov. J.B. Pritzker<\/strong>. That was updated a week later, however, with stricter regulations, including the elimination of scrimmages in contact sports and requirement to wear a mask for all indoor physical activity.
