{"id":439515,"date":"2020-07-11T02:15:31","date_gmt":"2020-07-11T09:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=439515"},"modified":"2020-07-10T15:43:57","modified_gmt":"2020-07-10T22:43:57","slug":"army-west-point-earns-two-verbal-commitments-from-meghan-cole-sarah-platt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/army-west-point-earns-two-verbal-commitments-from-meghan-cole-sarah-platt\/","title":{"rendered":"Army West Point Earns Two Verbal Commitments from Meghan Cole, Sarah Platt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW COMMITS:\u00a0<\/strong>The United States Military Academy at West Point has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for their growing class of 2025 from Frederick, Md. native\u00a0<strong>Meghan Cole\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Sarah Platt <\/strong>of Auburn, Ind.<\/p>\n<p>Both swimmers will join <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/futures-qualifier-rea-smith-of-crow-canyon-makes-2021-verbal-to-army\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rea Smith<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in West Point at the start of the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n<h1>MEGHAN COLE<\/h1>\n<p>Primarily a butterflyer and IMer, Cole swims year-round with Monocacy Aquatic Club and is a Junior National qualifier. She most recently earned silver in the 100 fly and bronze in the 200 IM at Maryland Seniors where she also registered four additional top-10 finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 54.69<\/li>\n<li>200 fly &#8211; 2:02.68<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 2:03.74<\/li>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 23.67<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 51.55<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last summer, she recorded four lifetime bests at the NBAC LCM Championships before going on to final in three events at Geneva Futures. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.<\/p>\n<h1>SARAH PLATT<\/h1>\n<p>A talented breaststroker, Platt is a Futures qualifier and does her club swimming with Fort Wayne Swim Team.\u00a0 She raced to eighth in the 100 breast at Indiana Seniors and finaled in the 100m breast at Indianapolis Sectionals in 2019. She also finaled in the 100m breast at Indiana LCM Seniors last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 1:04.00<\/li>\n<li>200 breast &#8211; 2:22.88<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 2:14.87<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also competing for Dekalb High School, Platt competed at the Indiana State Championships during her sophomore season.
