He initially tested negative for coronavirus after a stint of isolation, but his symptoms worsened on June 30. He was hospitalized twice, the second including a chest X-ray that diagnosed double pneumonia and returned a positive COVID-19 tests. He was move to the intensive care unit this week.<\/p>\n<p>Croswhite\u2019s family has set up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caringbridge.org\/visit\/kerrycroswhite\/journal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a Caring Bridge account<\/a> where his wife, Laurie, is providing updates on his progress. The family also set up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/medical-expenses-for-kerry-croswhite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GoFundMe page<\/a> to offset the cost of medical care, which as of Friday morning was near its goal.<\/p>\n<p>Laurie\u2019s latest update Friday morning was that Kerry Croswhite had, \u201cbest night that she has had with him in the ICU, where he has no major negative event.\u201d Levels like his blood oxygenation and potassium appear to be stabilizing.<\/p>\n<p>Croswhite has been the boys and girls swimming and diving coach at Chandler High School for 15 years. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2020\/07\/09\/chandler-swim-coach-kerry-croswhite-fight-life-covid-19\/5410813002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Per the <em>Arizona Republic<\/em><\/a>, he\u2019s \u201cknown for playing his bagpipes as walkup music to the pool deck for his swimmers before big races.\u201d He also plays the bagpipes before football games and works the gym scoreboard at basketball games. He was profiled by the <em>Republic<\/em> in 2008 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arizona-high-school-coach-saves-swimmers-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">after saving a swimmer\u2019s life while they were having a seizure<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has had and continues to have such a huge impact on Chandler High School students and student-athletes,&#8221; Chandler Athletic Director <strong>Jim Culver<\/strong> told the <em>Republic<\/em>. &#8220;Kerry is always willing to go out of his way to help others in need.
