I couldn\u2019t be more thankful for Coach Ivan Bunakov, my family and teammates for helping me make this possible. I want to thank Coach Sergio for giving me this amazing opportunity to join his team. I can\u2019t wait to be a part of the Hokie family&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A talented sprinter, Weiler trains with Nexus Swim Team and attends the Nexus International School. She won the 100m free, 100m IM, and 200m back at the Singapore National Championships in November and earned 100% best times at the FINA World Cup &#8211; Singapore. Last summer, she finished fourth in the 100m free at the LEN European Junior Championships and raced the 50m\/100m free combo at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>In LCM, her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free \u2013 25.79<\/li>\n<li>100 free \u2013 55.60<\/li>\n<li>200 free \u2013 2:05.64<\/li>\n<li>50 back \u2013 29.20<\/li>\n<li>100 back \u2013 1:02.90<\/li>\n<li>200 back \u2013 2:16.96<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In SCY, those times convert to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free \u2013 22.48<\/li>\n<li>100 free \u2013 48.69<\/li>\n<li>200 free \u2013 1:50.35<\/li>\n<li>50 back \u2013 25.17<\/li>\n<li>100 back \u2013 55.02<\/li>\n<li>200 back \u2013 1:59.86<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even with over two years to go before suiting up for the Hokies as a member of the class of 2026, Weiler will add valuable depth to their sprint group. Her best time in the 100 free (converted to yards) would&#8217;ve been at the top of Virginia Tech&#8217;s lineup last year, and she would&#8217;ve scored in the A-final of the 100 free and the B-final of the 50 free at the 2020 ACC Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Under head coach\u00a0<strong>Sergio Lopez<\/strong>, Virginia Tech finished eighth in the team standings at the 2020 ACC Championships and are bringing in an extremely talented incoming first-year class. Lopez is originally from Spain &#8211; like Weiler &#8211; and earned the bronze medal in the 200m breast at the 1988 Olympics.
