Most importantly through that was his commitment to me. I look forward to being able to look to him even more for guidance of our program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mellor works primarily with sprinters, and throughout his tenure with the Tigers, has been a major influence in the career of many Tiger swimmers.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">During his time in Baton Rouge, Mellor has led <strong>Logan Rysemus<\/strong>, <strong>Alex Linge<\/strong> and <strong>Leah Troskot<\/strong> to individual appearances at the NCAA Championships. He helped lead <strong>Karl Luht<\/strong> to NCAA Championship appearances in his junior and senior seasons. This past season, Mellor was instrumental in the development of <strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong>. Curry became LSU\u2019s first gold medal winner since 2004 after winning the 100-Yard Free at the 2020 SEC Championships. Curry <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2020-ncaa-division-i-mens-invited-swimmers-ncaa-college-2020-03-25.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">qualified for the NCAA Championships<\/a> in all three freestyle events.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mellor has been a driving force in many Tiger swimmers&#8217; quest for school records. Since 2015, Curry, Luht, Rysemus, <strong>Silas Dejean<\/strong>, <strong>Niamh Robinson<\/strong>, <strong>Haylee Knight<\/strong>, and <strong>Summer Spradley<\/strong> have all set school records under the direction of Mellor. Also during Mellor\u2019s time as a Tiger, all five men\u2019s relay records have been broken along with one women\u2019s relay record.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSince day one I have considered myself fortunate to represent and impact this historically successful and highly competitive university,\u201d said Steve Mellor. \u201cAs an assistant, I can safely say I have worked everyday with an expectation on both myself and the team to find ways to get better.
