COLLE Texas, November 2. THE No. 6-ranked SMU women's swimming & diving team dominated the competition at the Texas A&M Quad Meet Friday night. The event was held at the Texas A&M Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M. <\/p>\n
The Mustangs won 14 of 16 races against No. 23 Texas A&M, Arkansas, and North Texas. The dual meet scores were:

SMU opened the evening in fine fashion, winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.28. Two-time 2001 NCAA Champion Flavia Rigamonti blew the competition away in the next event, the 1,000 free, touching in with a time of 9:43.87, over 20 seconds better than the second place finisher. <\/p>\n
Junior Georgina Lee made it three straight out of the blocks for the Ponies with a time of 1:50.18 in the 200 free, securing victory in the event, while fellow junior Alenka Kejzar followed Lee up with a time of 55.80 in the 100 back for first place. <\/p>\n
Julia Pomeroy swam hard for a first place showing in the 100 breast (1:04.28) to make it five straight wins early for the Ponies, while freshman Sara Nordenstam gave SMU the first six events of the day with her time of 2:03.33 in the 200 fly. <\/p>\n
Freshman Laura Pomeroy won event seven with a time of 23.75 in the 50 free. Sophomore diver Elizabeth Pike followed Pomeroy with a third place showing in the one-meter competition. L. Pomeroy quickly countered, sweeping the sprint free events, winning this time the 100 free with a time of 52.04. <\/p>\n
Kejzar followed with her second individual win of the day, with a time of 1:58.33 in the 200 back. Nordenstam was the third Mustang to win her second event of the night in event 11, as the freshman touched in with a time of 2:17.33 in the 200 breast. <\/p>\n
Rigamonti swept the distance free events, as her time of 4:51.20 in the 500 free was over eight second better than the second place showing in the event. Lee followed as the fifth Mustang on the day to capture gold in two events, winning the 100 fly with a time of 56.67. <\/p>\n
Corrie Clark won SMU's thirteenth event of the night in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.86, while the Mustangs turned the lights out on all four competitors in the night's final event with a time of 3:25.53 in the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
