Harvard’s\u00a0Dean Farris\u00a0<\/strong>will be back in Cambridge<\/a> this fall after taking an Olympic redshirt year that was disrupted by the COVID-19 cancellations. Farris, who was training down in Austin, Texas this past season under legendary coach\u00a0Eddie Reese<\/strong>, will be swimming for Harvard this coming season in what will be his official senior season, the school confirmed to\u00a0Swimming World<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Farris had a tremendous junior season for the Crimson in 2019, taking home NCAA titles in the 100 backstroke<\/a> and 100 freestyle<\/a>, as well as setting an American record in the 200 freestyle<\/a>. These efforts helped Harvard finish eighth as a team<\/a>, their highest finish since 1964. Dean Farris also won the Crimson’s first NCAA swimming title since Olympic medalist David Berkoff\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 back in 1988.<\/p>\n

Harvard won its fourth straight Ivy League Championship<\/a> title this last season, and with the addition of Dean Farris and Raphael<\/strong> Marcoux<\/strong>, who also took an Olympic redshirt, next season, that streak could extend to a fifth year.
