World Junior Champion and NAG Record Holder Torri Huske<\/strong> has verbally committed to Stanford for 2021.<\/p>\n

Arguably the most sought-out recruit in the class of 2025, she’ll join the the Cardinal<\/strong> at the start of the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n

“I am humbled yet proud to announce that I will continue my academic and athletic career at Stanford University!” Huske posted. “Thank you to my family, teachers, teammates, and friends for your endless support. I\u2019d especially like to thank Evan, Torey, and all my coaches and who have helped me get to this point. I can\u2019t wait for these upcoming years on the farm. Fear the tree!”<\/p>\n

Huske basically had her choice of any school in the country, but felt like Stanford was the best hit for her.<\/p>\n

“It just had everything I was looking for. It is a really good swimming school, but it is also a really good academic school,” Huske told Swimming World<\/em>. “People are academically driven. You could tell that all the girls supported each other. I visited four other schools in the fall.\u00a0 I feel like I always kept a pretty open mind. I wanted to make sure I liked Stanford for the right reasons, that I didn\u2019t just like it because it was a good swimming school. I wanted to make sure that I actually fit well there. Those elements are pretty important to me.\u00a0 After all of my visits, I was more reassured that it was where I wanted to be.<\/p>\n

“Coach (Greg) Meehan is an amazing coach. He is going to be the Olympic coach and I already knew he had a good reputation. He has a great track record of helping everyone achieve their goals. He and Tracy (Slusser) make a really good team. Stanford does a great job at fostering inclusivity and I immediately felt welcomed when I visited. I felt like the Stanford had everything I was looking for, outstanding academics, a team culture which promotes unity, and great teammates. Greg and Tracy set a great tone for the team that really helps to create a unit full of support. I cannot wait to be a part of the tradition that is Stanford Swim and Dive.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Torri Huske, who was named Swimming World’s\u00a0<\/em>High School Swimmer of the Year<\/a> in 2019, had a breakout summer beginning with three top-12 finishes at Phillips 66 Summer Nationals. Her fourth-place showing in the 100m fly with a time of 57.80 broke the legendary 15-16 National Age Group<\/a> record held by\u00a0Mary T. Meagher <\/strong>since 1981.<\/p>\n

At the 2019 FINA World Junior Championships, she earned gold in the 50m fly, 100m fly, and 4x100m medley relay and grabbed silver in the 100m free. Her winning time of 57.71 in the 100m fly re-broke her own NAG record and earned her a spot on USA Swimming’s 2019-20 National Team.<\/p>\n

Huske then lowered her own 15-16 NAG record in her signature event with a time of 57.48<\/a> at the Toyota U.S. Open in December of 2019, edging out 2016 Olympian Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>for the win and new meet record.<\/p>\n
