Dalton spent five years at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/mitch-dalton-named-usa-swimmings-national-junior-team-program-director\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Junior Team Director<\/a>, serving a role to identify, support and cultivate future Olympians. He worked in conjunction with the USA Swimming High Performance staff and United States Olympic Committee practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton will be working alongside\u00a0<strong>Carol Capitani\u00a0<\/strong>in <a href=\"https:\/\/texassports.com\/sports\/womens-swimming-and-diving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austin<\/a> where the team qualified five swimmers to this year&#8217;s NCAAs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full Release Via Texas Women&#8217;s Swimming and Diving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am very excited to bring Mitch into our program at Texas,&#8221; Capitani said of her newest hire. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been impressed with Mitch through this entire process. He understands what it takes to compete at the highest level, in swimming, and in the academic arena. Mitch is passionate about cultivating relationships and culture and has a great reputation among his peers and athletes in the swimming community. I look forward to what we can do to build upon our storied history and success at Texas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before his stop at USA Swimming, Mitch Dalton spent five seasons at Princeton University as the assistant coach for the men&#8217;s program, helping to guide the Tigers to four Ivy League Team titles and three NCAA appearances. While with the Tigers, Dalton served as the recruiting coordinator, directly correlating to three nationally-ranked classes as his 2011 class was No. 13, his 2012 class was No. 5, and his 2014 class was No. 6. He also worked with distance\/mid\/stroke swimmers, lead the sprint group, assisted with the overall layout of the season and weekly plan.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton also gained collegiate swimming coaching experience with two years at George Washington University, where he was the assistant for both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s programs. While at George Washington, he was in charge of all recruiting responsibilities, alumni relations, fundraising, supported strength and conditioning department in weightlifting and dry land regimes, training of the stroke\/sprint groups.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I have long considered Texas the pinnacle of college swimming,&#8221; Mitch Dalton said. &#8220;Legends have walked on the pool deck at the Lee &amp; Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center. It is extremely humbling to be given an opportunity to continue to grow the legacy of this amazing community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since very early in this process, I would leave every phone call energized by [Carol&#8217;s] competitiveness to get better, win, and do it the right way. She is intelligent and full of humility, humor, and heart \u2013 what more can you ask for in a boss and teammate. I cannot wait to share the deck with her, learn from her, and help take Texas into the next decade.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A four-year letter winner at James Madison, Dalton gained additional international administrative experience on the coaching staff of Estonia for the 2011 World University Games.
