\nEven with the Olympics rescheduled for 2021, it is still unclear when it will be safe to hold large gatherings, let alone have people fly from all over the world to Tokyo, which has had a recent spike in COVID-19 cases. The new catch phrase to everyone\u2019s questions seems to be: \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAs Trinidad & Tobago\u2019s Dylan Carter starts to shift his training view toward 2021, he\u2019s come out in support of seeing the 2021 FINA World Championships rescheduled to April or May\u2014before the Tokyo Olympic Games. That would position the Olympics as the pinnacle of the season rather than having Worlds \u201cpiggy-back\u201d it.<\/p>\n

014 BRONTE CAMPBELL COUNTS BLESSINGS OF OLYMPIC DELAY THAT GRANT INJURIES MORE TIME TO HEAL<\/strong><\/span>

\nAustralia\u2019s Bronte Campbell has a history of shoulder, neck and hip injuries, and the 2019 season had a lot to do with rehabilitation and recovery. Now, the 25-year-old former World champion freestyler is grateful to have been given extra time to prepare for next year\u2019s Olympic Games. The delay has stopped the clock she was racing against to qualify at what would have been the Australian Trials in June.<\/p>\n

015 GRANT SHOULTS WILL HAVE EXTRA YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY FOR STANFORD CARDINAL<\/strong><\/span>

\nStanford\u2019s Grant Shoults, one of the top distance swimmers in the nation, has been given an extra year of college eligibility after he underwent shoulder surgery in his junior season, which prevented him from competing for the Cardinal during the second semester of 2019.<\/p>\n

016 WORLD SWIMMING COACHES LAMBAST RUSSIA FOR USING CORONAVIRUS AS A PLEA BARGAIN IN DOPING BAN<\/strong><\/span>

\nRussia made attempts to use the global coronavirus pandemic as a plea-bargain tool to have the country\u2019s Olympic ban dropped and open the doors to staging canceled and postponed events in Russia because sport should \u201cbe together\u201d at a time of crisis. The WSCA, however, declared that the world \u201ccan band together to fight the scourge of this virus…and we can band together to fight the scourge of doping.\u201d<\/p>\n

017 ANTON CHUPKOV NAMED AS FINALIST TO RUSSIAN FORBES\u2019 30 UNDER 30 LIST<\/strong><\/span>

\nWorld champion and world record holder Anton Chupkov was named as a finalist in the sports category to the 30 under 30 list by Russian Forbes Magazine. He became the first Russian to hold the 200 breast world record since 2003, and he is the two-time reigning World champ in the event as well as the reigning Olympic bronze medalist.<\/p>\n
