Madden is the program&#8217;s first female to earn the ACC Scholar-Athlete Award since 2010. She shares the honor with Florida State&#8217;s <strong>Molly Carlson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Madden was named the ACC Swimmer of the Year and ACC Swimmer of the Meet after winning five ACC titles and scoring 96 points at the conference championships. She held the fastest-time in the ACC in the 200, 500 and 1650-yard freestyle and ranked in the top-10 nationally in all three events. She concluded the season as a five-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-American.<\/p>\n<p>Florida State senior diver Carlson was named the 2020 ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year on Friday, becoming the first Seminole to win the award.\u00a0 The Toronto, Ontario, native joins <strong>Kristine Davies<\/strong> (2009, Virginia) and <strong>Brittany Viola<\/strong> (2011, Miami) as the only divers in history to capture the honor.<\/p>\n<p>Majoring in psychology with a GPA of 3.841, Carlson adds ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year to her post season awards after winning the ACC Diver of the Year and ACC Diver of the Meet. She was also named an All-American for 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving by the CSCAA. She also earned her fourth-straight nod to the All-ACC Academic Team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMolly and her teammates finished the year up very well both in the pool and in the classroom,\u201d FSU head diving coach <strong>John Proctor<\/strong> said. \u201cOur team is filled with outstanding students that work hard on their studies and I am so proud to see them recognized for their work and dedication. This is very well-deserved for Molly and the rest of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madden was one of <a href=\"https:\/\/virginiasports.com\/news\/2020\/4\/17\/swimming-diving-madden-named-womens-acc-scholar-athlete-of-the-year.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">16 Cavaliers<\/a> to be named to the women&#8217;s 2020 All-ACC Academic Team. She joins seniors <strong>Sydney<\/strong> <strong>Dusel<\/strong> (Naperville, Ill.) and <strong>Morgan Hill<\/strong> (Olney, Md.), juniors<strong> Erin Earley<\/strong> (Orange, Conn.), <strong>Caroline Gmelich<\/strong> (Rumson, N.J.), <strong>Marcella Maguire<\/strong> (Ridgefield, Conn.), <strong>Jocelyn Porter<\/strong> (Cornelius, N.C.), <strong>Emma Seiberlich<\/strong> (Audubon, Pa.) and <strong>Kyla Valls<\/strong> (Miami, Fla.), sophomores <strong>Julia Menkhaus<\/strong> (Charlotte, N.C.) and <strong>Jessica Nava<\/strong> (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and freshmen<strong> Jennifer Bell<\/strong> (Pelham, N.Y.),<strong> Lexi Cuomo<\/strong> (Clifton, Va.), <strong>Maddie Donohoe<\/strong> (Annandale, Va.), <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (Pelham, N.Y.) and <strong>Ella Nelson<\/strong> (Nashville, Tenn.).<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s team had 11 student-athletes named to the All-ACC Academic team with seniors<strong> Ryan Baker<\/strong> (Arlington, Va.), <strong>Joe Clark<\/strong> (Worcester Park, Great Britain), <strong>Ted Schubert<\/strong> (Ashland, Va.) and <strong>Bryce Shelton<\/strong> (Vienna, Va.), juniors <strong>Keefer Barnum<\/strong> (Louisville, Ky.) and <strong>Cooper Wozencraft<\/strong> (Houston, Texas), sophomore <strong>Justin Grender<\/strong> (Cincinnati, Ohio), and freshmen <strong>Sean Conway<\/strong> (Round Hill, Va.), <strong>Max Edwards<\/strong> (Winston-Salem, N.C.), <strong>August Lamb<\/strong> (Charlottesville, Va.) and <strong>Jack Wright<\/strong> (Wexford, Pa.) earning the honor.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a\u00a03.00 grade\u00a0point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.<\/p>\n<p>The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes\u00a0all conference\u00a0student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>2020 Women&#8217;s Swimming &amp;
