California Swimming Announces $650,000 COVID-19 Club Support Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the April 15<sup>th<\/sup> Board of Directors meeting of <strong>Southern California Swimming (SCS), the Board approved an SCS COVID-19 Club Support Funding program<\/strong> that will make available <strong>$650,000<\/strong> in two phases.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Southern California Swimming the Board issues the following statement today:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Both Phase I and Phase II would have two parts.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In Phase I, SCS Clubs would be able to apply for funds from different categories and a pool of $300,000.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In Phase II, SCS Clubs would be able to apply for funds from different categories and a pool of $350,000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terry Stoddard<\/strong>, General Chair of Southern California Swimming said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis was a collaborative effort that used measurable objectives to plan to support clubs in a time of need.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We can\u2019t do everything for everybody, wish we could, but by working together we have made strides in doing what we can for as many as possible.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We are Proud of Our Traditions!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We are proud of this program too!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>Southern California Swimming will allocate up to $650,000<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>for SCS COVID-19 Club Support Funding in two phases.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Measureable Objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Addressing Meet Revenue for meets that have been cancelled due to COVID-19 mandates.<\/li>\n<li>Helping Clubs at Risk.<\/li>\n<li>Provide financial support to teams in need that choose to participate in testing new competition models made necessary Post COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Phase I \u2013 YTD Until 90-days After Return To Operations (RTO)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Based on need and application SCS will allocate up to $300,000 to help Clubs.<\/p>\n<p>I SCS will consider support for Swim Meets that were cancelled in response to COVID-19 mandates that were on the SCS Schedule of competitions in the months after March 16<sup>th<\/sup> and including, April, May and June, 2020 \u2013 Up to $80,000.<\/p>\n<p>II Support teams that are in dire need \u2013 Up to $220,000 based on an Athlete-share and a cap based on team size.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Note:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All applications are due by April 24<\/i><\/b><b><i><sup>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><b><i>, 2020.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Phase II \u2013 Beginning 90-days after RTO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Based on need and application SCS will allocate up to $350,000 to help Clubs.<\/p>\n<p>I $200,000 to support teams after they have Returned To Operations.<\/p>\n<p>II $150,000 for meet support to run future meets by advancing funds to teams in need in order to roll out meets that may be necessary post COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Note:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The application process will be opened up after the June 17, 2020 SCS BOD Meeting.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Club Support Funding Program the Board of Directors also initiated several other teams, task forces and programs to help its Stakeholders together during and through to the <b><i>\u201cother-side\u201d<\/i><\/b> of the COVID-19 Crisis.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SCS Covid-19 Emergency Crisis Team of volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>30-60-90-RTP Planning Task Force.<\/li>\n<li>Club Development Program.<\/li>\n<li>SCS CARES Act Application Team.<\/li>\n<li>SCS leadership Team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>SCS COVID-19 Club Support Funding<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Southern California Swimming will allocate up to $650,000<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>for SCS COVID-19 Club Support Funding in two phases.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Measureable it.<\/li>\n<li>The Meets that will be considered are the 2020 Calendar of Meets in the months of March, April, May and June.\n<ul>\n<li>Use the 2019 Reconciliation Amounts for the same meet (Or closest similarity).<\/li>\n<li>SCS would grant 10% of the 2019 reconciliation \u201cNet Amount to the Club\u201d (Or closest similarity).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: This involves approximately 80 meets.<\/p>\n<p>II Support teams that are in dire need \u2013 Up to $220,000.<\/p>\n<p>Clubs must apply for the financial support to receive it and provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Representation &amp; Documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Representation of either 2018 \/ 2019 Taxes.<\/li>\n<li>Bank statement showing reserves lower than 2.5 times their monthly operating expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Present an Income \/ Expense Statement.<\/li>\n<li>Present a 940.<\/li>\n<li>SBA loan receipt of application with a Confirmation Number.<\/li>\n<li>A Club Operational Balance Sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Proof on insurances for the Club (Workers Comp)(D\/O if its board run).<\/li>\n<li>The amount granted shall be calculated by determining an \u201cAthlete Share\u201d:\n<ul>\n<li>Determine the Number of Qualifying Teams.<\/li>\n<li>Determine a sum of the Number of Registered Athletes on all of the Qualifying Teams as of (4\/7\/2020).\n<ul>\n<li>Determine an \u201cAthlete Share\u201d of the $220,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Multiply the \u201cAthlete Share\u201d times the previous number determined per team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b><i>All applications are due by April 24<\/i><\/b><b><i><sup>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><b><i>, 2020.<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li>Applications are submitted to the SCS Office and the Executive Director.<\/li>\n<li>There will be a Review Committee made up of the following members: General Chair, the six Geographic Committee Chairs and the Finance Committee Chair.<\/li>\n<li>This Review Committee will evaluate the applications and determine the process of completing the SCS COVID-19 Club Support Funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Phase II \u2013 Beginning 90-days after RTO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SCS will allocate $350K to help teams who are in need.<\/p>\n<p>I $200K to support teams after they have Returned To Operations.<\/p>\n<p>II $150K for
