{"id":427113,"date":"2020-04-14T13:56:10","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T20:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=427113"},"modified":"2020-04-14T15:20:42","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T22:20:42","slug":"sec-awards-erika-brown-kieran-smith-earn-conference-top-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sec-awards-erika-brown-kieran-smith-earn-conference-top-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC Awards: Erika Brown, Kieran Smith Earn Conference Top Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced its annual men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming &amp; diving awards to cap the 2019-20 season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> of Florida was voted the Male Swimmer of the Year, and <strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong> of LSU was named the Male Freshman Swimmer of the Year. <strong>Kurtis Mathews<\/strong> of Texas A&amp;M was selected as the Male Diver, while <strong>Manny Vazquez<\/strong> <strong>Bas<\/strong> of LSU and <strong>Victor Povzner<\/strong> of Texas A&amp;M were tabbed as the Co-Male Freshmen Divers of the Year. <strong>Anthony Nesty<\/strong> of Florida was chosen as the Men\u2019s Swimming Coach of the Year, and<strong> Jeff Shaffer<\/strong> of Auburn and <strong>Jay<\/strong> <strong>Lerew<\/strong> of Texas A&amp;M share the Men\u2019s Diving Coach of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> of Tennessee was selected as the Female Swimmer of the Year, and Z<strong>oie Hartman<\/strong> of Georgia was named the Female Freshman Swimmer of the Year. <strong>Alison Maillard<\/strong> of Auburn was voted the Female Diver of the Year, while <strong>Tanesha Lucoe<\/strong> of Alabama was tabbed as the Female Freshman Diver of the Year. <strong>Matt Kredich<\/strong> of Tennessee was chosen as the Women\u2019s Swimming Coach of the Year, and Auburn\u2019s Shaffer was tabbed the Women\u2019s Diving Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>For the All-SEC Teams, the First Team consists of the top finisher in each event at the SEC Championships, and the Second Team consists of the second- and third-place finishers in each event. The All-Freshman Teams consist of any redshirt or true freshman who finished either in the top eight or is the highest scoring freshman of each event at the SEC Championships, excluding relay
