I thank them for their great effort and interest in us,\u201d Osman tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Osman was born in Indianapolis but raised in Cairo <a href=\"https:\/\/calbears.com\/sports\/womens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\/farida-osman\/8562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">before a stellar career<\/a> at the University of California. The 25-year-old graduated as the school\u2019s record-holder in the 50 freestyle and won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/farida-osman-steals-100-fly-ncaa-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 NCAA Championship in the 100 butterfly<\/a>. She was also part of relays that set four school records and won five NCAA titles. Osman was named the 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-world-magazine-announces-2017-african-swimmers-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Swimming World African Female Swimmer of the Year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Farida Osman competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, making the 100 fly semifinals in the latter. She won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships in the 50 butterfly, among a slew of continental and international championships medals. Osman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/isl-american-derby-cali-condors-and-l-a-current-looking-to-officially-punch-tickets-to-vegas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">competed in the<\/a> International Swimming League with the L.A. Current last season.
