Adam Peaty<\/strong> has raised more than \u00a313,000 ($16,200) for the National Health Service after raffling off the suit he wore en-route to Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro<\/strong> four years ago.<\/p>\n
The eight-time world champion had already raised more than \u00a34,000 ($5,000) with a charity static bike ride and will donate all the money to the NHS to buy personal protective equipment and other essential items as Britain battles against the coronavirus (COVID-19).<\/p>\n
Peaty posted on social media, saying:<\/p>\n
“To everyone who bought a ticket you\u2019ve just helped raise over \u00a313000 for the NHS. It will support patient care and staff care which is needed now more than ever with the recent pandemic. The winner has been contacted. Thanks to @swimming.events<\/a>\u00a0for hosting and organising the raffle,\u00a0 @ryanricho93<\/a>\u00a0 @callumtheone<\/a>\u00a0 @craigeoli<\/a> for the idea of cycling 100km on a turbo and everyone that has helped promote it and joined me on the ride. The just giving page is still open so it\u2019s not too late to donate! Thank you again!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
